With GOP support, civil unions bill passes Illinois House

By CATHY SANTOS • November 30, 2010

The Illinois House has just passed a controversial bill that would allow civil unions between same-sex couples (61-52-2).

Representatives Ron Stephens and David Reis were the only two Republicans to speak out against civil unions during the House floor debate. Republicans Bill Black and Mark Beaubien rose in support.

Republican State Representatives who voted “yes” are:

Suzanne Bassi

Mark Beaubien

Bill Black

Elizabeth Coulson

Rosemary Mulligan

Skip Saviano

With passage in the House, the civil unions bill now moves to the Senate.

The bill is SB1716.

Given that supporting 'Traditional Family Values' is a core value of the Great Awakening group and given that 'holding their feet to the fire' is our post-election responsibility, I encourage my fellow Great Awakening members to communicate with their state representative as to your displeasure or appreciation for their vote... let them know that we are watching... Ed Sullivan (State District 51) ( ilhouse51@sbcglobal.net ) voted 'NO"... YEA, Ed !!!...
