Five Questions for Duckworth as she accepts Durbin's Endorsement

from the Illinois Republican Party

1. Do you agree with Senator Durbin that taxes should be increased?

2. Since you’re accepting Sen. Durbin’s endorsement at a local business, do you believe that Illinois should have raised the corporate and personal income tax, as Senator Durbin does – especially in Cook County which has one of the highest tax rates in the nation?

3. Do you still support the proposal from your former boss (Rod Blagojevich) to create a Gross Receipts Tax that may have put the business you’re at today out of business?

4. How many jobs were created at Bley (the business you’re at today) with the $5 million in stimulus money they received? How many stimulus dollars per job created does this come to?

5. Considering that Illinois has lost 125,000 jobs since President Obama took office, do you think that that giving a business $5 million in stimulus money is the most efficient way to create jobs?

I would love to hear her answers if someone could ask the questions or is she going to go in hiding like Bean

Dear Commuter,

The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority wants to increase the tollway tax for drivers in a 12-county area up to 90 percent! For drivers who pay cash on the tollways, this is the second time tolls have been raised substantially in the past six years. Now you will pay as much as $3.80 at a single toll booth if the tollway tax increase is approved. Over the course of a year, this adds potentially several hundred dollars more per year for your tollway costs.

The Toll Highway Authority is expected to vote on the tollway tax increase this month, after a rushed series of public hearings. They want to sneak this 90% toll increase through before drivers realize what is happening. I urge you to show up at the public hearings and voice your opposition to this proposed 90% toll increase

At numerous board meetings , the Schaumburg Freedom Coalition has introduced, explained, and led the charge for model transparency legislation to be enacted by the Village of Schaumburg. Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is spent, whether it is at the federal, state, or local level.

All 6 members of the Schaumburg Village Board, and Mayor Al Larson, have rejected the idea of a FULLY open and transparent government, and have refused to sign the Transparency in Government pledge created by the Illinois Policy Institute and promoted by the Schaumburg Freedom Coalition.

While we will continue to push the Village Trustees and Mayor Al Larson to adopt our comprehensive transparency proposal, the citizens of Schaumburg shouldn’t have to wait any longer. The Schaumburg Freedom Coalition has been making Freedom of Information Act requests and the findings are available on this website.

I hope that you will take the time to look over the documents the Village Board and Mayor Al Larson don’t want you to see. Together we can identify waste, prevent corruption, find opportunities for cost savings, and help lower taxes on the citizens of Schaumburg.
