Chris was born on the south side of Chicago and grew up in Schaumburg, attending Collins Elementary School and Mead Junior High. After a year at St. Viator High School, Chris attended the Illinois Math and Science Academy as a member of the Charter Class. Chris received a Navy ROTC scholarship to attend the University of California – Los Angeles, where he received his B.A. with a double major of Economics and Russian Studies. While at UCLA Chris took advantage of opportunities to learn about other cultures and countries, studying abroad in Russia in 1991 and participating in an exchange program with the Japanese Navy in 1992.
Upon graduation from UCLA Chris was commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy, initially serving on the destroyer USS SCOTT where he deployed to the Mediterranean and Black Sea in support of NATO operations. Following that tour of duty Chris studied at Naval Nuclear Power School and was then stationed on the cruiser USS CALIFORNIA, leading an engineering division and operating a nuclear reactor at sea while deploying to the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean in support of anti-drug interdiction efforts. After 6 years of active duty Chris transitioned to the U.S. Naval Reserve as a Naval Intelligence Officer, serving 14 more years before retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Following his active duty naval service, Chris embarked on a successful private sector career in digital technology and ecommerce, holding executive leadership roles such as General Manager of GNC.com, Chief Ecommerce Officer at Pizza Hut, and Senior Vice President of Ecommerce at Talbots.
While in college Chris met his future wife Victoria. They married in 1995, and have been blessed with three children: Alex, a junior at Syracuse University; Joshua, a freshman at Arizona State University; and Catherine, an 8th-grade student at Plum Grove Junior High. Both Alex and Josh are actively serving in the U.S. Army Reserves as they attend college on Army ROTC scholarships, continuing the family tradition of service.
With strong business experience, a record of public service, and a deep history with the communities of the 8th district, Chris is ready to serve his country again and be a new voice in Washington, a new voice for Illinois families. Let’s stand together to bring the change we need, and to create a better future for ourselves and our children.
