When I conceived of this event back in January, I had great hopes that it would be a success. In less than 6 months, it has already exceeded my expectations. That’s because so many others like myself have a burning desire to honor and support our wounded warriors but had no vehicle to show that support. Wounded Warrior Rockfest gives everyone an opportunity to do just that.
Wounded Warrior Rockfest will be a benefit concert to be held at Durty Nellies in Palatine IL on Memorial Day (Monday, May 30th). The event will consist of two shows, 2-5:30pm and 6-10pm, and will feature 9 bands. Tickets for the 1st show are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. Tickets for the 2nd show are $12.50 in advance, $15 at the door. (buy tickets at www.woundedwarriorrockfest.com/tix)
The money raised will go to Wounded Warrior Project which has programs to help the wounded warriors (go to www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
We have some amazing things happening at the event. The Marine Corps Color Guard will start the event at 2pm with the presentation of the Colors. Immediately following, professional vocalist Timothy Filliman will lead us in the National Anthem. US Congressman Robert Dold will then share some thoughts and lead us in honoring our fallen soldiers with a moment of silence.
US Congressman Joe Walsh will join us at 3:30pm and share some words of support for our wounded warriors, as will Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz.
I addition, we have over $2000 worth on raffle prizes, video shout outs shown through the event, professional video film crew shooting a concert DVD and a great emcee, Madeline Maser.
Now, I know most people already have plans for Memorial Day and will be unable to attend Wounded Warrior Rockfest. If that’s the case, I ask if you would do 2 things:
First, please take a moment (or longer) to honor our fallen soldiers. They made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may be free (It IS Memorial Day, after all).
Second, consider purchasing a ticket for Wounded Warrior Rockfest as a donation. It’s only $8, less than a bottle of wine or a six pack of beer! Please visit www.woundedwarriorrockfest.com/tix.
Lastly, I will be in studio for an interview with Greg Jarrett of WGN 720AM (Chicago) on Monday morning at 8am. If you’re in Chicago, tune in.
Thanks for your support.
