Training Series on How the Left Does It, with the second event will be held on
Thursday, November 10th, in the Palatine Public Library. The event will begin at

Activist Training will include the following topics:

How the Left Does
It: GOTV: This presentation provides a description of the GOTV operations of
ACORN and SEIU. We highlight the preexisting political infrastructure that
operates and grows year-round, linking local issues and concerns to state or
national candidates, precinct captains, etc. Coalitions (particularly between
ACORN and ProjectVote) use simple tactics such as door knocking for real
results.

How the Left Does It: Precinct Work: This presentation provides
a description of ACORN and SEIUʼs precinct-based strategies with a focus on
ACORNʼs APALs volunteer program. Weʼll highlight the importance of year-round
voter outreach, particularly once a month block walking. Strategic points also
include precinct micro-targeting and voter registration.
