Event Description:
There are 10 presidential candidate debates between now and the March primary. Let's watch them together and talk about your favorite candidates and the action, somewhat like watching a game at a sports bar.
The last few debates have been pretty entertaining, with some tough questions and surprise moves to knock them off their scripts and get candidates taking their best shots at each other. Politics is a contact sport! It's game day!
This debate is on Bloomberg from New Hampshire.
We'll meet in the large private "band room" (not the noisy main bar) where they do concerts at Durty Nellie's, which has a large screen projection TV. Everybody is on their own for buying drinks or dinner, rather than trying to do it as a catered event. If there's enough interest, we'll do this again on October 18 for the debate from Las Vegas on CNN.
This debate is scheduled from 7 - 9pm Chicago time. If you want to have dinner, why not arrive early and already stake out a table during the pre-debate show from 6pm?
Invite your friends, but please RSVP so that we have a rough idea how many people to expect.
Now that Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich have been rising in the polls, while Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann have been sliding, this should be a very interesting debate. The media narrative that this is just a two-person race between Mitt Romney and Rick Perry has fallen apart since the last debate, and Chris Christie and Sarah Palin have now officially dropped out of consideration. Some states have also moved up their primaries to earlier dates. In short, voters may pay more attention now to the debates.
