Please note the instructions below about road closures and parking restrictions, and check back for updates before July 3.
PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION: Participants in the Joe Walsh section of the parade should meet at the east end of the north commuter parking lot in time to catch a shuttle bus to the high school at 8am or 8:30am. If you miss the bus, you'll need to walk to the high school, where there is NO PARKING. Enter the east end of the north commuter lot from Rt. 14 near Starbucks (see map link).
Note that despite the holiday, parking restrictions on Barrington side streets (such as 2 or 3 hour zones) will still apply, so to avoid tickets use the commuter lot or look for 5 hour parking areas. Main Street (Lake Cook Rd) will be closed from shortly after 7am. If you want to drop somebody off at the high school before 9am, use Hart Road from Rt 14 and the dropoff point is near the stadium.

URGENT: Road closures and parking restrictions in Barrington
Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) will be closed from shortly after 7am because of a race prior to the parade
Everyone who wants to participate in the parade needs to gather at the high school not later than 9am, when the parade line-up process begins. The parade will kick off promptly at 10am. Plan to arrive early, because Hart Road and the high school parking will become very congested between 8 and 9am.
There is NO PARKING available at the high school. There will just be a drop-off process near the stadium entrance from Hart Road. Once again, Lake Cook Road will be closed, so Hart Road will be the only available route for dropping people off at the high school. There is also a baseball tournament that day at Field of Dreams (also on Hart Road), so driving to the high school may be congested.
The usual Barrington parking restrictions on side streets will be in force despite the holiday weekend. Note that some streets have 2 or 3 hour parking limits, so that would risk parking citations. There are some 5 hour lots, and we are looking into other arrangements.
The parade will proceed from the high school to near the Christian Science church at Wool Street, which will be closed. If you want to park in the north commuter parking lot by the Metra train station, which is close to the end of the parade and the brat tent festival after the parade, you will need to access it from Rt 14 near the Starbucks since Lake-Cook will be closed - as above. The south commuter lot (behind the Harris Bank building at Cook Street) may be in use that morning for the race.
After the parade, participants are encouraged to stay for the Community Band performance at noon at the brat tent by the train station. At 2pm, there is a large Tea Party rally in Palatine, where speakers will include Joe Walsh and other candidates, including Bill Brady for governor. Check the Joe Walsh campaign website for other parade appearances he is planning around the district on July 3, 4, and 5.
