The Pruitt-Igoe Myth is one of the best documentaries I've seen in a long time. The movie is about a failed public housing project in St. Louis. I believe it reinforces the ideals of the tea party movement, the idea that big government causes more harm than good. The movie takes a comprehensive look at the reasoning for the projects construction and the reasons for it's failure in a fairly objective way. The testimony of the former residents is passionate, but what really grabbed me was the women who talked about the element of control the government could have over you if they were giving you money. You can also see, though not particularly stressed here, the damage this kind of government involvement has done to the Black community.
