In the old days, Republican and Democrat party leaders were elected by voters (that means these party leaders were elected by YOU and other people who voted in the primary elections).
 
About 20 years ago a few Republicans staged a power grab, and took away your right to vote for the party officials.  The Republican state party leaders are now elected by committeemen.  However, the Democratic voters still have the right to vote for their leaders.
 
Because of these changes, the Illinois Republican Central Committee is controlled by a group of insiders.   This insider group favors big government types.
 
In addition, without competitive elections, or an infusion of new ideas the party has grown stale.
 
Because these protected party insiders have so much power, it is a challenge to get our conservative tea party values heard in Illinois.
 
It is time to get rid of that insider system, and there is a good chance that could be accomplished within the next week.
 
Really, I’m serious.  This is something that can be a done deal within the next week.  You will get back the power to determine who will run the Republican Central Committee in Illinois.
 
SB 600 has been simmering for a long time.  It has passed the Illinois Senate, and Govenor Quinn said he will sign the bill once it passes the house.
 
There is one catch.  Super insider guy, Tom Cross, is trying to keep this bill from being voted on in the Illinois House.  Tom Cross is the minority leader in the house, so he has control over which bills are introduced on the house floor.
 
Tea partiers often talk about the importance of competition.  Well, the current system of appointing Republican party leaders does not allow for competition.  It was designed to protect the power of a small group of party insiders—and that is exactly what is does.  Those insiders are working very hard to stop the passage of SB 600.

 

Please call Tom Cross at 217-782-1331 and tell him to allow this bill to come to the floor for a vote, then call your

State Rep. and urge him to vote yea.  We cannot take back our country if we can't even get back our vote .
